The WWW Contrabassoon Reed Project

Pictures for reeds 5 and 18 were taken with a Canon AE-1 camera with a Canon Zoom Lens FD 35-105 1:3.5 and then scanned after development.

#5 Haus Wisse-contrabassoon reed.

This contrabassoon reed was 68mm in length. The blade was 31.5mm in length. Projected width at the tip was 19mm. Width at the collar was 10mm. The reed had a string wrap. Three brass wires, possible #23, were at app. 6mm, 21.5mm and 31.5mm.

#18 Guus Drall, Europe-contrabassoon reed

This contrabassoon reed was 74mm in length. The blade was 36mm in length. The projected tip width was 20. Width at collar was 11mm. This reed had a string wrap. Three brass wires at 7mm, 24.5mm, and 29mm.
